Bad bolts

Good solid metal, but the bolts were just barely long enough for what I consider to be a standard bifold door, and the bolt had was so tiny that I had to use washers, which made the bolts too short, so I had to go to the local hardware store and pay way too much for longer bolts. How can *anyone* think that a bolt head that it's a very tiny amount bigger then the bolt itself is the right thing for a door handle?
