Flat Teak Wooden Scraper Spatulas

Rating 3 ⭐ because of weight discrepancy. Weight of each on a commercial grade scale: 10 inch: One is 1.1 oz 2nd is 1.4 oz 12 inch: One is 2.8 2nd is 2.6 I weighed these on my scale the instant I got them. And there's obviously some quality control, consistency and tooling issues here. They're not finished well either. They have rough patches on them, splintery areas on the sides of them. They have a finish on them but it is uneven, so I got a rough towel and tried to buff out those splinters without ruining the finish. It is actually teak wood, it just hasn't been handled with care. I took them to a friend who works in a restaurant and knows wood pretty well, so it was verified that they are teak, but the manufacturing company is just shooting these things out mass scale. I highly suggest before your first use, you rub them down with food grade wood oil. I used boos mystery oil and the cream. I let them sit overnight in the air so that they could absorb. And absorb they did, which tells me this wood was very very dry. Today they look very nice; shiny and ready to work. I was told by my friend that with care, I will probably have these for a long time to come. The ones that weigh the least are the ones which are [probably] going to go first, so I'm going to put those to work first out the gate. For the price, these are indeed serviceable, and they do look nice (no large knotholes indicating cheap teak) with the long grain and varying shades of the teak wood. Again, if you buy these they may come wrapped up. Unless you have the equipment and the materials to sand them down, reshape %26 smooth out, just grab a rough towel and buff it out and oil them up and wait a day before use. Please do not put these in the dishwater, do not let them sit with water on them at all. Don't let them sit with food on them. As soon as you are done using them, even if you're tired, you need to wash them, dry them and put them away. First day of cooking with them, I made chicken and rice in a stainless steel pot because I knew it would stick. It did good scraping up the bottom of the pot, some food residue was left there, but for the most part it is most definitely better than a silicone spatula. I bought these because my pots are stainless steel, carbon steel, and cast iron. I have a couple of anodized non-stick pans. And wood is their best friends. If anything changes, I will be back to update this review. Happy cooking!
