I am not sure what this fiber content is, but it is NOT pure wool — I'm not even sure if there is any wool content in this at all. I am a spinner and a crocheter, and this fiber is not like any of the many varieties of wool roving that I have worked with. It failed the burn test (see photo) — it melted into a plastic blob and gives off a chemical smell rather than simply creating charred ash and smelling like burned hair as wool does. The staple length is about 3 inches, but it is nearly impossible to draft when spinning because it does not slide on itself and it is very difficult to get an even draft which makes me think it is some sort of synthetic fiber. I am very disappointed that a company on Walmart's website thinks it's OK to scam customers and I will be returning this. If you are looking for synthetic roving of an unidentified type, then this might be for you since the colors were accurate as shown, and the amount provided is decent for the price, but beware of this company since they appear to be mislead customers about their product!
