These Are Handy To Have, But...

These are handy to have. They go on and come off your hard hat easily and make it very easy for you to have a face shield on your hard hat when you're out in the field or in a shop where hard hats are required at all times. Here's the but, and there's going to be many who agree with me.....the little channel that goes around the brim of your hard hat is the problem! When you have your head down and you're grinding or chipping and generally throwing up dust and splinters and grinding shards, that little channel quite happily catches some of that mess you're causing. When you need to look up for something, that little channel happily dumps whatever it has caught into your face, usually behind your safety glasses (you were wearing them right?) and into your eyes! This has happened to me multiple times and just happened to one of my employees. My last company changed visors after I mentioned this in a safety meeting and I'm doing the same for my guys right now. They're easy to use, but they're going to cost you big one day when you have to pay the ER to have a steel shard removed from yours or your employees eye(s) The MSA V-guard system is a little more costly to buy but has a debris skirt built in to prevent this.
