tires were two years old but sold as brand new

After these tires were mounted and balanced by the Walmart staff, the manager came into the waiting room and informed me that the tires were two years old, and that two of them required an excessive amount of balancing weight to balance them. He indicated that the tires may have been stored incorrectly at the warehouse. When I contacted customer care about this, I was told that because the tires had already been mounted and balanced, I could not return them. The manager indicated at the point of sale that if I wasn't happy he'd be glad to order a new, more expensive set of tires and swap them out, if I paid the difference. Given that I could barely afford the tires to begin with, this is not a viable option. I should be able to return these on the grounds that they were NOT in brand new condition, at least for an exchange of the same brand and size.
