Common Uses: Lemon (Sicily) Essential Oil has been historically recognized as a cleanser. It is reputed as being antiseptic, and as having refreshing and cooling properties. On skin and hair it can be used for its cleansing effect, as well as for treating cuts and boils. Research has also shown Lemon (Sicily) Essential Oil to enhance the ability to concentrate.

Properties: Antibacterial, antihistaminic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, bactericidal, carminative, diaphoretic, digestive, emmenagogue, febrifuge, nervine, sedative, tonic uterine, vermifuge.

Shelf Life and Storage from the time of distillation:

Approximately 1 – 2 years.

It is impossible to say exactly what an essential oil shelf life will be. The storage conditions will vary and make a significant difference. If the essential oil has been received directly from the distiller shortly after distillation and the glass bottle is kept dark, full, closed, and cool, we can make some generalizations.

Note that if an essential oil begins to appear cloudy, thicker, or if it smells more acidic, it has likely begun to oxidize.

Cautions: Lemon (Sicily) Essential Oil is non-toxic, but may cause skin irritation in some. Lemon is also phototoxic and should be avoided prior to exposure to direct sunlight. Avoid during pregnancy.
