I wanted a flat pile carpet for under my dining table that can handle high traffic, rubbing of chair feet, big enough to pull chairs in and out, easy enough to clean if there is a spill. This carpet in 6'x9' serves it all. Not so heavy so that I can roll it up periodically to clean under it. As I am putting dining table on it, I did not need non slip padding under it. If you are putting it directly on hard surface you may want to consider the padding as it may slip. Overall I giving it a high mark for my purposes.
