1st pair of Altra Shoes and I love them

I am a relatively new runner in my early 30's. I'm currently running 12-15miles/week on the road--6 to 7.5 miles a couple times a week. I have low arches and mostly a neutral runner until I fatigue. The Torin 4.5 plush is a very comfortable shoe and pretty responsive especially when I pick up speed. I decided to try it out for the foot shape toe box a zero drop design. I took a couple runs to get adjusted but I pretty much fell in love with them. Great shoes!

Plush and comfy

I'm 135 miles in on my first pair. Previous shoe was the Hoka Clifton replaced at 600 miles. The Altra toe box is wider and my toes feel better. The big toes' bunion situation is much improved. Can we talk about the upper? It's fine. No issues. But I run with thick socks (more cush for those toes). If you had something sharp poking/rubbing the upper I could definitely see it tearing. The tongue on the Torin has to be the smoothest, most comfortable tongue I've ever felt. It's thin and soft and has a nice bit of cushion. I don't feel it at all. It's perfect. Same goes for the heel tab. The entire shoe is just very comfortable. This is my first zero-drop shoe and the jury is still out on that for me. My arch tendon sometimes gets a bit sore. I can't say for sure that is related to the shoe. I wouldn't mind a higher arch support though. Durability. Hmmm. I'm not sure they will last 600 miles. There is a smaller amount of cushion compared to the Hoka Cliftons and for me that cushion really extended the number of miles I could put in prior to replacement. The quality of build and materials had been fine so far. Sole is holding up okay. Overall I've been very pleased.

Great Cushioning For Plantar Fascitis

Used to run in Escalantes but due to my plantar fasciitis flaring back up I needed a shoe with more cushion. I tried to Torino, which was fine but the Torin plush is great. People are overreacting to the "narrowness" of this shoe. It is not as wide as older models of Altra shoes but it's still more open than other brands and it's not restrictive. Shoes are holding up after 150 miles.
