The main story follows the Urza story arc, where Queen Abellona plots to rid the world of alchemy and eliminate her arch nemesis Urza, an alchemist and philosopher, who is the only balance of Abellona's tyrannical unchecked power in the Magic Kingdom.
The Industrial Witch Complex is told through the experiences of various characters, including Zoe and Charles, who have inherited their family's magic private investigator business when they find themselves tasked with investigating the mystery of the King's Assassination only to find that the Queen is responsible along with the Sorcerer Prince, knowledge that imperils Zoe and Charles from the wrath of the queen's secret paramilitary force of demi-witches.
Crucible of Worlds is to become a galactic story that extends into space and even into other planets, however, in the first series of COW, the 'intergalactic threat' comes to this world, which will later become known as the 'home world' in later series', the intergalactic threat to the home world comes in the form of the ULEMOTH, who are giant nightmarish creatures from another planet far across the galaxy, where a galactic disaster has destroyed all sentient life on the planet leaving only a biomechanical mass known as the 'Singularity', a hive-minded creature that absorbs all life and integrates what it absorbs for its own purposes.
The Ulemoth are giant machines the people used on the planet Ulemoth, where the singularity took over the world and integrated all life into its functions, the Ulemoth where once tasked to destroy the sentient race of beings on their planet by a vindictive warlord who lost to a coalition of free peoples, now they that have bonded with the planet's core to sustain their power they have slowly created a dimensional gate and entered the Main Home world through an interdimensional portal.
Abellona's power grabs and backstabs end in the first series with her destruction at the hand of Urza's autonomous clockwork soldiers after a climactic battle at Urza's Workshops, resulting in Urza's demise and his 'final order' to 'The Re-animator'.
As the Sorcerer King reels from the Destruction of the Magic Kingdom, and the world reacts to the onslaught of the Ulemoth, a new Republic is formed from the ashes of the Magic Kingdom and the leaders of the 'Underground' most of whom comprised of Urza refugees.
