If someone had told me this “Juggalo Road Trip” movie would unironically become the most memorable film I've seen all year, I wouldn't have believed them. I don't want to say too much about it, I'd rather people walk in with the same level of knowledge and expectations I had (which was zero beyond knowing it was a “Juggalo Roadtrip” movie), but I will say this movie is worth watching. Don't pre-judge this film!
I'm not a Juggalo, but I've had Juggalo friends, and they allowed me to learn and understand the culture and appeal enough to always consider myself adjacent. This film was clearly made with real love - love for the culture, love for the people, a real understanding of both and a desire to share that love to the world. This film is an underdog made by underdogs about underdogs, and my God, they captured something magical here.
This movie has more genuine heart and talent and passion behind it than half of what comes out of Hollywood, using a 10th of the resources those movies typically have! Well casted, well directed, well acted, well written, well scored, well shot, well edited? Just cheesy enough and tongue-in-cheek enough to be charming. Surprising in the best ways! They did masterfully with the constraints and resources they had. I think it would have lost something with a bigger budget. It's carried by its heart, and the care and love the crew clearly poured into it everything they did. Please give this movie a try!
I hope this gets a blurray release. I'd love as much BTS material as possible. I hope it finds an audience. It deserves to become a cult classic. I hope it plays festivals, gets midnight showings. I'll be rooting for you, Off Ramp!
