Best if bought in store. Abreva is a fine product for treating cold sores. However, like all similar products, each lot of Abreva has an expiration date. If your cold sore outbreaks are infrequent, buying through Walmart.com is a bad idea because you will not know the expiration date until the item is delivered. For the order I placed in March of 2026, the item has an expiration date of February 2027. The tube I am using now, which I bought in 2025, has an expiration date of May 2027, and the tubes I saw for sale at Kroger recently had expiration dates in 2028. If it is possible for you, I would recommend buying it in a store rather than having it shipped or delivered.

It Works

Unfortunately, I get cold sores if I am out in the sun without SPF lip balm. Put this stuff on with that first tingle and healing is dramatically sped up. Now, my wife can't even see them. She only knows because I don't kiss her during healing.
