The item is not easy to assemble since the printed directions are not very clear. It wound up taking two people several hours to assemble it. Seems fairly sturdy but we'll see what happens after I put the shoes in it. I am not very happy that it has an awful smell, but after all of the trouble assembling it I am not going to return it. Had I know that it would be "smelly" I definitely would not have bought it.
