As someone who walks for exercise two to three hours every day, I go through many pairs of athletic shoes every year. On these daily excursions, I was looking to a walking shoe that would, of course be comfortable, but also give me good ankle and arch support. I had never purchased this brand, preferring to buy more expensive brands, New Balance and Saucony, both of which fit me perfectly, and were more durable as well. As a result, although curious about this product, I had lower expectations that it would suit my needs. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The shoe fits well, and even after a 3-1/2 hour fast walk on some days, is comfortable. The tread provides good traction, even on sidewalks that are wet from lawn watering. They grip firmly when I am walking down steep hills. Another feature that I like are the rope laces which are just the right length, and are easy to tie into a single knot bow, which has so far, never opened during my long walks. My other athletic shoes have much longer laces, which require double knots in the bow to avoid having to stop and retie them on occasion. The shoes are also very light in weight, but are well-designed and attractive. They also shopped immediately, arriven in 2 days, were beautifully packaged and boxed, with each shoe in an individual protective sleeve. But there are a few things that I don't like about these shoes, and is the reason for giving it only 4, and not 5 stars. I always remove the insoles of my athletic shoes, and replace them with Superfeet, or another quality orthopedic inset, to give me greater arch support, more comfort under the ball of each foot, and more walking stability. On these shoes, the insole is sewn into the shoe, and cannot be removed, so I could not use insets. I am also concerned about the durability and functionality of the tread. After just 2 weeks of heavy usage, there are already signs of wear on the shallow tread patterns, resulting in smooth spots. I think that my walking demands for footwear are probably higher than most, and that others would probably be very satisfied with this products, and I would recommend buying it with confidence.
