glam mid century look. can't quit staring at it! saw VERY similar sofas on other sites (might be the exact same) but chose to order from walmart (of ALL places for a luxury item) because of easy return policy. i was afraid since it was so inexpensive that it might LOOK cheap. thought i might have to return it and that it would be easiest just to repack and take to actual store . so opened smaller box first-thought less repacking for return---and i FREAKED out. for days i just gazed at the gorgeous back piece in total shock. LOVED IT. after about a week my boyfriend got tired of dodging the boxes in middle of room and helped me assemble it. assembly DOES require 2 adults as stated. i glanced at clock when we started reading instructions and total time was 45 minutes. it took enormous finesse and patience to "slide" in the back. both sides need EVEN strength to push in. maybe take a break before you start sliding in back. i got black. velvet does have that glam sheen when overhead light is on. nap does NOT show rear-end marks like typical velvet or ultra suede.-delighted! (ive experienced that before and its kind of embarrassing!!) velvet a.l.m.o.s.t. has that "distressed" look which fascinates me. legs were actually way more black looking (i have a black floor and thought id have to spray paint "brown" legs) it IS mid century size. my boyfriend took a pose with one arm draped over back and mimed smoking and said it looked like it was from "mad men"-that tv series?! we sit facing each other, legs on sofa, leaning back against arms and it is comfortable. seat is typical firm. leaning against back is not comfy. it would be more for talking across coffee table and leaning towards other person. i got this because of depth (measuring the side) and it is narrow for my skinny room. BUT i think 34" would have been better looking than 30"-if the whole back of sofa had padding. optically. this sofa looks fabulous. am matching this with a $2200 black velvet chaise lounge(cleopatra from toscana)-thats how fabulous it looks.

Stunning emerald couch that fits in my office perfectly. It's stiff, so I wouldnt use for living room. But a bedroom or office is fine
