The preface to this last volume embodies a.list of the manu scripts and books which have been consulted during the compilation of the work, and reiterates (p xxix) a promise made elsewhere of lists of Kings, Bishops, Dukes, and Abbots, and the general Fasti of the anglo-saxon kingdom, never, unfortunately (owing to the death of the author and dispersal of his literary remains), to be carried out.
