Godzilla Minus One (4K Ultra HD)

You go into Godzilla Minus One thinking, OK, big lizard, lots of explosions and chaos, and you would be correct. It is a popcorn flick, but with a hidden gem. The gem is the overall story and acting by everyone in this film. At the center is a young kamikaze pilot who failed in his mission and now returning home in disgrace and dishonor to find his home in ruins. Now this force of nature has come, will he be able to protect his family and loved ones and regain his honor, or will fall to cowardice and remain disgraced. It is a brilliant film telling a human story in the backdrop of a kaiju attack. Matching the intensity of the story and superb acting, is the special effects. Winner of Best Visual Effects at the Oscars in 2024, this film puts to shame all the big budget over priced slop that pours out of the sewers of Hollywood. Master Chief Approved.

Don't get me wrong. This is a good film but is more suited for children. Adults just like me are always looking for something more rather than a simple story of redemption. This movie had parts where they took good advantage of Dolby Atmos but fell short in the sound effects department because of the reduced moments where they could be exploited. This is the reason I gave it a five in the children category but a four in the adult.
