The Second Alchemyst War is alive and well. Despite the Young Alchemysts best efforts to slow the progress of the tenacious Lux Alliance, there seems to be no end to Caliph Qasim's aggressions. Empaths from all over the nation are being deported to the occupied ghetto in Nyeusi as a means of the Caliph's personal mission to eradicate their unnatural abilities to give pain and take it away. Meanwhile, Chancellor Laska is trying to maintain hold of what's left of the government while running the Nox Alliance, but it has been an uphill battle after losing so much territory. The Caliph is growing stronger in influence with each victory. Much of that success is owed to a master machinist stolen from the ranks of the Young Alchemysts themselves. An empath, Sarai Guerra has managed to stay alive under the threat of death by being useful to her enemy, which has turned her into a reluctant, and suicidal inventor. Will the Young Alchemysts be able to redouble their efforts and take back their country? Or has that time already come and gone?
