It's hard, but bouncy. plopping down feels like a trampoline. But, it's so easy to clean. So, very durable. Not unpleasant at all. i bought this to replace my very large Rooms To Go sofa that did hold up well in a relatively long amount time for the price. This sofa is small. But, It can accommodate my husband, my 2 toddlers, and myself just fine for a much smaller cost than what we had. I love it! It works for what we needed for. If your goal is to plant yourself on a surface for a lengthy amount of time and forsake all productivity in life, this is not the sofa for you. If you enjoy relaxing in spurts, this is it.
