photo shows a different color than actual item - base is a very pastel taupe (definitely not any shade of grey) - lid is sort of whitewashed to maybe attempt to match the base color (but it fails), and the surface is a bit rough - very disappointing - only after sanding and painting the top brown myself am I happy with purchase - decent bargain overall - nice quality base - vast inner storage - there are little plastic feet on the bottom, and larger bumpers inside the lid to keep it from moving - shipping was speedy and item was well packed - they could charge more if the top was finished better - in any case, the photo colors are extremely misleading for both the top and base - maybe it was for another color option of the same product?
