Make Sure To Wind It All The Way Before Setting!

In order for the timer to produce a noticeable 'RING" when the time has elapsed, you will need to wind it all the way to 60 first, then set the dial counterclockwise to set the timer length you desire. If you do not wind the timer all the way to the number 60 first, the bell inside will not be fully cocked and the ring will be very quiet when the time has elapsed. It says this on the box, but I think it may not be as prominently displayed as it should.

Works after reading instructions

Great little timer. Works great once you find out how to use it. Wanted to give it one star since I could barely hear the alarm but then I read the instructions. You ALWAYS have to wind it up to 60 min first and THEN set the timer, otherwise the alarm wont be loud enough. Now it works great. Sometimes reading institutions first helps :-)

Not for me

I purchased this to use as my kitchen timer was not loud enough to be heard 40 feet away. First of all the alarm goes off and last less than a half of a second and unless you are less than 5 feet away you will not hear it. Now if you hold it and wait for it to go off that's ok and it would work for you.
