Hayward W3SP1580 PowerFlo Pool Pump for Above Ground Pools, 1 HP

My last pump exactly like this model lasted around eight years. It as so dependable that I neglected to check and notice that some leaves had gotten sucked into the motor windings. I like this pump for several reasons. It is affordable. I use the Hayward Jack's Formula 327 Lube on the threads to the strainer lid once a year. I only have to do this once a year and this lube makes the lid easy to take off and reinstall. This lid is a LOT easier to manage than other lids. The internal strainer is thick and wll last the life of the motor. I also like that this motor does not require a lot of power to do an adequate job cleaning my pool. I was able to hook it up to a box with a mechanical, rotary timer, I also use a Hayward skimmer that is easy to use. My baskets lasts years until they become brittle from exposure to heat and chlorine. I do have some suggestions to increase the lifespan on your pumpand hope Hayward takes these suggestions underconsideration. I have made a frame fromhardware cloth to keep leaves from getting sucked into the motor windings. I also elevated my motor mounts with sveral rubber washers to deter any water from getting into the motor. When I got a serious downpour, leaves got wet and this ended up rusting and shorting out my motor. I will post a picture of my pump elevated with my hardware cloth protective enclosure around my pump cover. I plan to add more hardware in front of my pump also.

Clear instructions. Easy install. Bought to replace original pump, which was over five years old. Got this one all hooked up and it runs much quieter than the old.
