Get a thick mattress and this bed is perfect.

The headboard is pretty and glamorous and my daughter loves it. The frame is strong and supportive. This bed does not come with a mattress and the one we have is a bit on the thin side. Platform beds are great because you don't need a box spring. However, the base of this bed is only a few inches off of the floor. If you are buying this to avoid buying a box spring, a nice thick mattress would probably look a lot better than the thin one we have. It sits very low to the ground. Overall, though, it's a home run, as my 9 year old daughter loves it. Assembly must have been easy since I heard no complaints from the husband.
