GREAT FOR BIG OR HEAVY DOGS
Even though the measurement of thickness is off by a full inch (the bed is 4" high/thick, not 5 inches) the support is so good, I'm using two of these beds side by side for a bed in my van for myself!!! I weigh 215lbs and sleep on my side. Very comfortable for a human, so it's got to be great for a dog of any size. The fluff top is very good quality, and the whole cover is removable. One single zipper on one end has a nice fabric covering, so it is invisible to the eye. The bottom of the cover is made of a sturdy vinyl. I will be wrapping each 30"x40" mat with a Twin Size bed fitting sheet which works great as a fitted covering wrapping it over, under and over again. This fitted sheet will be easier to wash than the original mat's covering - just a suggestion for keeping the original covering with the fluffy topping in new condition for years and years. BTW, the pic with the dog's arm pressing the edge of the mat down is deceptive because the edges are just as firm as the middle. This is not a cheap quality foam as the pic might make you think. If I could give it a sixth star, I would.
