Okay, let's get this out of the way first. Spoiler Alert: The monster really does “eat pete” in this delightful tale. There isn't anything grotesque in the charming and simple story, but it does give a chance for the monster to learn that playing with friends is more fun than eating, or um, antagonizing them. That can be a difficult lesson for many children to learn, so I'm so happy to share this well made book with my own little monsters.
