I have always been very skeptical about Robotic Vacuums mostly because years ago my mother bought one (different brand) and had nothing but problems and it didn't pick up very well. Now Bob is another story. First of all he is very easy to set up and there are also videos you can watch. When you take it out of the box. You need to put the side brush on and it comes with a screw driver and the screws you need. You need to put batteries in the remote and they do not come with it. Then I found a place to plug in Bob's home base and set it on the base and let it charge. When he was ready to go. I hit the switch on the unit and hit the go button on the remote and away Bob went. If you are wondering why I am calling my vacuum Bob. It is because that is his name. He came with a Birth Certificate and that was his given name. His height, weight and his birthday was also on the certificate. I thought the Certificate was cute addition to the unit. I sent Bob to our bedroom. I have carpet in the room and I also have 3 dogs and one of them is an Alaskan Husky and she is shedding terribly right now and with the heat running the hair blows all over. The test began. He was in there about 15 minutes going under the bed and under the dressers. When he was finished in there I hit the charge button as I was curious how much of a charge was left and Bob is very obedient. He went right back to his home and started charging. Only one bar out of 4 was gone. Then I pulled the dust bin and could not believe how much hair Bob had picked up. I had just vacuumed 2 days before. If I can I will post a picture of how much hair was in the dust bin. The other thing is I have 2 shag rugs in my living room and I tested him out on them. He went for awhile. But he got stuck a few times but if you read your manual. You can take the main brush off the bottom and away he goes. It doesn't pick up quite as good as with the brush and the book tells you that. But it does so a good job. I also threw some wrappers from life savers down and some dog food in front of Bob and he picked them, Something my 2 other vacuum cleaners do not pick up. Would I recommend this vacuum. Yes I would. Matter of fact I already bought one for my daughter and it is on the way to her house for a surprise gift.
