Way better than the original.

This is intended to replace the modified original 1953 Jeep steering column. This Jeep has been ""hot rodded"", probably in the 1960's, with a 327 SBC. It had the usual problem of making the steering work after an in-line engine was replaced by a V8. It is a way more refined part than the original. The major dimensional difference is that it is slightly larger in diameter.

Better than anticipated

only minor con is there is no tab or ""non round"" area on the tube to really secure it. two round clamp brackets (not included) do a sufficient job but I over build everything. I am HAPPY I bought it. I couldnt have sourced the parts cheaper....and I tried.

Hot Rod Steering Column

I am using this Steering Column in my 1951 Ford F1 pickup. I have a bolt-in Mustang II front suspension kit in my truck. This column was extremely easy to hook up to my steering rack. I made my own drop and anchor bracket, but Speedway has those too. I was able to change the angle for more leg room, measure for my desired dimensions, and order a custom size for less than 100 dollars!! Now I have 5000 miles on my pickup, and these parts have performed perfectly, are still fresh as new, look great, and make a huge hit at car shows. This is a quality product available in a custom size. The materials and finish are world class. Thank you Speedway.
