The JR "Daemonum" Signature Set from EMG is a pickup combo three years in the making. Slipknot guitarist Jim Root is a longtime user of the EMG 81/60 combo. After trying various prototypes, he was inspired by a set of modified Retro Active pickups to tailor his tone. Unlike traditional open-coil pickups, both the bridge and neck pickup utilize stud poles. The fingerboard pickup uses ceramic studs to give it a clean high-end percussive tone.
