Broan ALT230BL hoods/ventilation|under cabinet

My husband installed the range hood with my assistance. He followed the instructions for measuring where to put the screws to attach the range hood under our cabinet and in the end, there was a small gap between the hood and side cabinet. Underneath the cabinet, the hood sagged and did not fit tight. While the right side of the hood was tight under the cabinet, the left side had a 3/8 inch sagging gap after mounting. The cabinet was straight and level. Our previous two Broan hoods fit snug and perfectly.My husband put a straight edge on the Elite Alta2 hood and discovered the hood was straight until about 2/3's to the end of the left side. This 3/8 gap looked awful. To correct the poorly made hood, he had to drill through the sheet metal of the hood and into the bottom stile of our cabinet. He then added a washer for support to the underside of the hood and tightened the screw to reduce the gap created by the bowed hood. The hood still does not sit flush on the left side under the cabinet, but the gap is considerably less than it was. While I loved my prior Broan range hoods, they were well made and installed easily, this range hood is much thinner gage sheet metal and poor quality. I hope this range hood lasts as my husband says he will not install another one after this disappointing install. My last two Broan hoods were inexcellent condition and purchased by others as I was changing appliance colors. This hood will go to the recycling center. I do like the streamlined look of this hood. I hope it has the longevity of my last 2 Broan range hoods.
