Third set of General Altimax winter tires (first set through Walmart). Ordering process was simple; delivery was quick. I really didn't like that the tires were a little over a year old when received but figured it would be okay. We live on a long steep hill that is ignored by state plows (unless the neighbors at the bottom of the hill use their four-wheeler with a plow) and a gravel driveway that has been packed with snow, freezing rain, sleet and more snow and our 2012 Subaru Outback crawls up to the garage effortlessly. There is no contest between good winter tires and the best all-season tires. Btw, the tires are also amazingly quiet on the highway.

Just had a 6 inch snowstorm. Tires worked great.

These tires were put on our Mini Countryman. Snow is no match as they perform very well. Starting and stopping is very good on slippery roads. I also have a set on my Ram pickup and they perform super! I actually plow with them and have never gotten stuck.

I've had many sets of the previous generation Altimax Arctics, and was a little worried that these would not live up to the aggressiveness of the old ones in deep snow. My fears were abated quickly though - these worked amazingly well on my '03 BMW Z4 3.0i, and allowed me to get through the rough MN winter without much trouble, which is no small feat for a torquey RWD roadster. Many top-down drifts were had. Treadlife seems to be even better than the old model - though I am a very aggressive driver and like to kick the tail out when I can, and usually get <10,000 miles per pair of rear tires - I put about 8-10k on these and the rears are still at half tread. My fronts look to be nearly new tread depth yet. Can't say enough good about these. They're worth it, and $500 is far better than your insurance increase when you rear-end someone in the winter by having subpar tires.
