Helps absorb the calcium you take

Since I have severe osteoporosis, my endocrinologist of course recommended a large amount of calcium and then the vitamin D to go with it. He suggested that I take 1000 iu daily and then once a week 50,000 iu. He said this will give your body two different ways to get the vit D you need to help absorb the calcium. I very strongly agree with him.
