The assertion that General Anthropology is the mother of the social sciences is indisputable given the overwhelming scope of the discipline. The introductory chapter of this study briefly draws attention to its multifaceted nature. The focus on the other chapters however, is on the relevant areas of social anthropology, i.e. the social branch of general anthropology. The narrative, meant for lay readers and beginner anthropology students, is not an introduction. Its main objective is to give the reader an idea about the social life of non-industrialized societies and challenges of change and transformation they are grappling with.
