The tires have high ratings. After looking at a number of sources, both physical and mail order, Walmart had the best price. The installation was quicker than the estimated time. Very pleased.

I only bought one General Altimax Arctic 12 tire this time as a replacement for one destroyed (along with the winter rim) by a pothole at the end of last winter. I will get it studded like the rest of the same brand of tires for my car this winter. I have had, more expensive, studless Michelin ice radials on my cars in the past but I feel far more confident, especially in icy conditions, with the General tires. I have been running them for the last four winters. They have been sure-footed in all winter conditions and long lasting as well. Yes, studded tires are noisier but it is traction and control I am most concerned about in the winter. I'll enjoy a quieter ride in the summer with all season tires (General G-Max AS-07).
