Key item features

GQ's Greatest Hits collection first appeared on Arista in 1979. The pulsating "Disco Nights (Rock Freak)" blasted all over the discos, the skipping beat and snappy production proved more effective than an earlier version they cut as the Rhythm Makers titled "Soul on Your Side." The yearning "Make My Dream a Reality" is one of GQ's best compositions, and proves disco didn't have to be mundane. Jams aside, GQ made their mark remaking Billy Stewart's two classics, "I Do Love You," and "Sitting in the Park," fine efforts both, but neither could touch the originals. The tender, lamenting "Sad Girl," originally done by Emperors Soul 69 on Futura Records, and later the Intruders, didn't scorch the charts like the Stewart remakes. A good introduction to GQ. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
