Excerpt from Douglas-Fir Seed Dispersal in Northwestern California

Since logging started in the Douglas-fir type of north western California, foresters have had little quantitative informa tion on seed production and dispersal in that type. Here are the data from seed traps set out in four study areas during the years 1951 to 1958. They give foresters some direct evidence on which to base their plans for size of cutover, artificial regeneration, and cone collection. This report gives a complete analysis of the project and terminates this phase of the work.
