The laptop is great overall, but it has it's downfall. The cooling system over-promised and under-delivered, as we were promised a great cooling system that would essentially make the heat unnoticeable. At first, it really is kept cool, at least until you use it for what it's for. Gaming. Within seconds you can hear the fans working. Within 30 minutes, you'll feel the heat. Now, having said that it really isn't that bad if you get a air-y buffer, like a laptop fan. Compared to what we were promised, it really is disappointing, but it does the job in the end. The battery life is one of the other things that were over-promised and under-delivered. The specs will tell you it survives about 5 hours on battery, but of course this is always under the best scenario of the laptop merely being on. If you are actively using it, especially as a gaming laptop, it will last maybe 3 hours top. I once watched a show with low brightness and barely made it through. If you plan on using it without a plug, definitely get a portable battery and turn off your laptop between transit. Those are really the only downsides to this laptop. Everything else is as promised and works beautifully. The screen is beautiful, the keyboard is smooth and fast, and the laptop itself is as promised. Great performance, but poor hardware design
Everything on system works fine with exception tonthe touchpad which is horrible and after talking to support they want the laptop returned. If you google the touchpad you will see a lot of people have issues with the touchpads. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Powerful machine, high customization

Truly pleased with my recent purchase of a Lenovo Legion Y540. Online purchase experience was smoother than Apple/Dell/Hp. Highly customizable; great chipset and great GPU. Definitely a heavier build than a tablet; perfect when you want an machine on the go with no compromise on performance. I strongly recommend! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Absolute monster

Can't go wrong with a FULLY upgraded laptop by Lenovo. This is my second one, and it never skips a beat. I wish Linux was an option along with higher graphics card capability but, with 32gb memory and an RTX2060 it is a monster. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Very Happy

Absolutely awesome computer, just amazed at how fast and powerful this Computer is. Super lightweight so it's easily mobile and easy to use. Very friendly interface and none of the issues my old computer had. The only issue I have had with this computer so far has been the fan. It runs super loud because of Extreme Cooling and I've looked up multiple ways to turn it off and have found nothing. There's no option from the BIOs no option anywhere and I've downloaded the apps connected to it. Other than that though this computer has been nothing short of amazing. Legion Y540 is a BEAST!

I am 4 weeks into owning the Legion Y540 and so far I am really enjoying it. It arrived at my house in less than a week! The main reason I went with Lenovo (other than watching every YouTube video and reading every website about Lenovo Y series) was because my previous laptop was a 2009 ThinkPad and it served me very well. The only thing that went bad on it was the battery but I still hung on to it until someone threw a pencil at the screen and it broke. That is when I decided it was time to upgrade. As an engineering student I decided to get a gaming laptop because the specs would allow me to run any program that I might need in the future (or so I told my parents), I also wanted a laptop that would last me a long time, and being as expensive as it was it better do so. The laptop looks very nice with a sleek modern design, and the screen makes a nice clear picture (very life like). Near the touch pad it is a soft-touch plastic that shows a lot of smudges and finger prints. The keyboard is very nice to type on, however, it does take a little bit of getting use to. Likewise, the touch pad works well but also takes a little bit of getting use to. I am not a fan of the plastic clicker buttons on the bottom of the touch pad though. But in general, Lenovo did an amazing job on the design. The main reason that I will be using this laptop is for school. However, I am only 4 weeks into owning it and school is not in session yet. Therefore, I mostly use it for browsing and I occasionally play CS-GO which is not a super large game. This brings me to the obvious flaws that this laptop has. The laptop runs the game beautifully, but the fans are pretty loud and the laptop does get hot (not uncomfortably hot though so I am assuming that all gaming laptops do this). The worst thing that most people will find with this laptop is the battery life. As stated in many reviews accost the internet, it is terrible (lasts only 3 to 4 hours depending on use). I knew that the battery was going to be bad when I bought it so it does not bother me at all, but do keep in mind that you will need to carry the charger with you. Also keep in mind that the charger is not small. The AC adapter is pretty large. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. I hope this laptop will last me at least 5 or 6 years, I did buy a warranty, but only time will tell. Most of what I wrote are negative reviews towards this laptop, but anything that I did not cover in my review means that I have no problem with it and am very happy with it. I am just pointing out the aspects of this machine that are hard to see unless you own it yourself. I would fully recommend this product. It is a great bang for your buck! Have a nice day and good luck shopping. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Best laptop for its price!

I have been using this laptop for 2 weeks and it's been solid! I research for a while and no other brand is currently offering 1tb SSD with a 6gb graphics card and the newest i7 9th gen chips for this price! I am pleased with my upgrade as I shoot in hi-res and 4K video this laptop can handle a basic media workload. I will be upgrading from 16GB to 32GB of RAM. I need a little bit more power for those long video renders.

Definitely a laptop worth the price

Best laptop I've ever owned. Super fast and light. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
