Released by the Copycats label (whose insignia looks a lot like Capitol Records), Mary J. Blige Smooth Jazz Tribute is a cheesy synth and sax collection of some of the popular R&B singer's bigger hits (though many are missing, including "Real Love," "Everything," "Love @ 1st Sight," and "Family Affair"). Blige is often called the "Queen of Hip-Hop Soul" because of the edge in her voice (and sometimes her music), and that is all but eliminated when it's replaced by the saxophone, rendering these covers melodically accurate at best. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
