Was really well built, thick steel. I was expecting to have to attach the gate to the carrier, but no it is preattached using a heavy duty hinge. Only have to add the three metal straps (all identical despite instructions indicating three different part letters) to the hitch bar. If you presort all like parts it goes together pretty easy despite little help from the instructions. They were good enough, but bad. One thing I was initially puzzled on was I was missing two bolts, but they were pre-installed on two of the other parts. Actually you need to remove one and move both bolts to one of them according to the instructions, but that was the worst of it.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this carrier. It is well made with strong durable steel. The edges are well rounded and smooth. The instructions were clear enough. The assembly took me just over an hour, but then I am 84. The unit came with every thing need including the reflective tape for the back. The only con is the location of the locks that pin the position of the ramp. They are located so that it is close quarters between the carrier and the back of the vehicle. Too bad there isn't an option to use either front or back. Other wise, a great purchase. Thinking of buying another one.
