An exhibit of fat cattle was held in Sao Paulo during the second quarter of the year. The general verdict seemed to be in favor of the Zubu.breed for raising on the ranges instead of the native or Caracu breed on account of its great resistance to drought, floods, lack of care, bad pastures, insects etc. The number of cattle in Brazil at the time of the last census l.o. 1920 was It is probable that the number is larger at the present time as, according to official provincial estimates the number in five provinces supporting approximately 70 per cent Of the total was in 1927 against in 1920. Rio Grande do Sul leads the other provinces in cattle numbers with about adult, cattle at the present time. Sao Paulo, where the meat packing industry is most important, reported in 1927 against in 1920.
