The large shelf will hold up to 40 pounds. And the open cubbies up to 30 pounds each. The directions are very simple to understand. It took me under an hour to assemble. You will need a screw driver and hammer, that is all. It has good weight to it and is very firm. It's a pretty gold laminated particle board sure to blend and bring your room together nicely. An eye-catcher, conversation piece for family and friends. The middle shelf is all open, you can add gaming and/or other items. The two open cubbies are spacious also.
