Step 1 - First, determine if you are working on non-coated stainless-steel by using the Tru-Metal Test Strip included in every kit. If it comes back black, you are working on non-coated stainless steel and clear to proceed.
Step 2 - Judge the depth of the scratch.
If it's only cosmetic, use the the gray pad.
If you can lightly feel the scratches, use the brown pad. If the scratch catches your finger nail, use the finger strip followed by the blue pad (using the burgundy, coarse side).
Step 3 - Attach the appropriate pad to the gray handle. Apply an "S" shaped amount of Ultra Shine to the pad, you don't need much.
Step 4 - Grip the gray handle and while applying even, medium pressure, go back and forth (or up and down) always in the grain direction, around 10 times. Then, using the microfiber cloth, wipe clean the area. If scratches still remain, repeat the process. After repeating the process 2 or 3 times and deeper scratches still persist, graduate to coarser pad. Please see videos online for demonstrations.

Scratches can disappear
Scratch B Gone cannot work miracles but it does come close. By using the kit you actually remove and form new grooves in the grain and blend it in to the surrounding stainless steel. You can see the difference but it is positively better than those unsightly scratches and most definitely something you can live with without replacing the scratched piece. Just make sure you follow the instructions and I would recommend lookup the videos.
