Los Extraterrestres
Key item features
By the time Wisin & Yandel released Los Extraterrestres, the veteran reggaeton duo was a well-oiled hitmaking machine. It had taken them a half-decade to break into the mainstream with Pa'l Mundo (2005), a chart-topping album that spawned a long string of singles, including the number one hit "Llame Pa' Verte." In the wake of Pa'l Mundo, Wisin & Yandel began leveraging their newfound mass appeal: they established their own boutique label (WY Records), formed their own supporting group (Los Vaqueros), and begun flooding the marketplace with product, including a deluxe edition of Pa'l Mundo (featuring the number one hit "Pam Pam"), a group album (Los Vaqueros), a remix album (Los Vaqueros: Wild Wild Mixes), a live CD/DVD (Tomando Control), and a collection of repackaged archival material (2010 Lost Edition). Plus, they were featured on a Top 20 hit by Don Omar ("No Se de Ella 'My Space'") that was as much their song as his, and for good measure, they struck a deal with Microsoft to market the Zune MP3 player. Given the machine-like productivity of Wisin & Yandel throughout 2006 and 2007, it's no surprise that Los Extraterrestres is workmanlike and well-executed, serving up everything fans will expect, beginning with a sure-fire lead single, "Sexy Movimiento" -- everything except surprises, that is. At a point in time when fellow reggaeton figureheads such as Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderon, and Calle 13 were pushing the boundaries of the style in their own respective ways, Wisin & Yandel chose to return with a safe album that should do nothing to alienate their fan base. This is good news for those who enjoy state-of-the-art reggaeton without any experimentation, for even the two songs that feature English-language rap artists ("Control," featuring Eve; "Jangueo," Fat Joe) are stylistically straightforward. Moreover, the employment of first-rate producers Nesty, Tainy, El Nasi, and Monserrate and DJ Urba in the place of Wisin & Yandel's former beatmakers-in-chief, Luny Tunes, ensures the quality of the music. Couple this with the veteran approach of Wisin & Yandel, who bring their A-game here, and the result is a new-yet-familiar album sure to please the duo's fan base, and likely grow it as well as the hits mount. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide

Product details
About the Artist Born Juan Luis Morera and Llandel Veguilla respectively, the duo of Wisin & Yandel are a bright hot comet of rhythm and dynamic energy making their mark in a genre that fuels todays hottest musical movement, Reggaeton. A musical genre that distinguishes itself and sets itself apart by fusing Jamaican dancehall with Panamanian reggae root. This dynamic duo lays down their own particular stamp on the world of Reggaeton, making them not only original, but a breath of fresh air with insightful lyrics and a drive for excellence that refuses the thought of mediocrity. Their love for music is their bond and their unique chemistry lyrically and as performers is what sets them apart.. With their latest release, Wisin vs. Yandel `Los Extraterrestres, the duos first studio album since `Pal Mundo in 2005, they are set for world dominance. Lead by the electric single "Sexy Movimiento", the album features nineteen tracks of pure energy and a couple of surprises as well. In an evolution of sound, this album features special vocal appearances by Don Omar, Fat Joe, Eve and Franco De Vita. Evidenced by a few years of non-stop success, with major wins at Latin Billboard Awards, Premios Juventud, and Latin Grammy nominations, the "Dúo de la Historia" (Historys Duo) ensures many more hits in the future. Three million albums sold, a Top 10 album for forty-eight consecutive weeks, and one of the most downloaded artists; Wisin and Yandel has brought the public such hits as "Rakata", Pam Pam", "Yo Te Quiero" and "Noche de Sexo" with a fury and energy that can only be described as the New York Times simply raved: "Triumphant, clearly, for these two, but triumphant also for the genre." Despite living the crazy life traveling, selling out shows all over the world, and selling millions of records, the duo finds time to just "be". They find home in Puerto Rico where they say is where they can feel grounded and spend time with family. They also find the time to give back. They believe it is important to have a social conscience and lend both their time and their name to foundations and charities like the Carlos Arroyo Association, and the Home for Children Living with AIDS to name a few. This is only the beginning for Wisin and Yandel. The "Duo Dinámico" is just that a dynamic force of nature that has captivated the world with their infectious style. And, as all men with a purpose, they will continue to deliver their own brand of reggaeton , determined to keep us not only dancing, but expecting from them the same degree of excellence that they expect from themselves. Juan Luis Morera y Llandel Veguilla, conocidos como el dúo Wisin y Yandel, son como una explosión de ritmos y energía que han dejado su marca en el género más "pegao" del momento, Reggaetón. Un género musical que se distingue por su fusión de "Reggae Roots" y "Dancehall" jamaiquino, combinado con el Rap y Reggae panameño. Este dúo dinámico le pone su toque especial al mundo del Reggaetón. Ade

A Very Exceptional CD
This CD is GREAT! A really necessary addition to anybody's CD collection. I don't really listen to reggaeton as much, and I gotta say, this CD got me hooked on it. The beats on the songs are beautiful, don't even sound like reggaeton on most of the songs.
