GDF Studio Darcie Iron Fireplace Screen, Black Brushed Gold

Really pleased with this fireplace screen. It is substantial and well made. Surprised at the quality given the very reasonable price. The black brushed gold is nearly solid black, only the feet at the bottom have a bronze look that shows through - it isn't garish gold or brass looking at all. Dresses up my fireplace to be the focal point of the room, very ornate, classic & gothic looking. The only quibble is the fleur de lis finials at the top of the screen screw on so that if I put them completely tight - they would be sitting at an angle and not flat with the front of the screen. So I left them a little loose so they would face forward. It's minor, and even if I tipped the screen moving it away from the fireplace to tend the fire - they are on securely enough that they wouldn't fall off. I've seen some very pretty & ornate wrought iron fireplace screens that are far more expensive, but lack the mesh screen so that sparks could drift through. Those ornate wrought iron screens are at a minimum 2 - 3 times as expensive as this one. This one actually works as a fireplace screen and for far less money.
