It seems to be a little less messy, but you still have to be careful because the least little spill of the powder can be quite messy. I chose to do the mixing in my sink and that seemed to work out well. In my opinion the mixing should be done by an adult, bringing the kids in once the bottles have been prepared. There are four colors provided, along with a white bandana and a white scrunchy is provided as well. I found the process from start to finish to be quite easy and if you are very careful, a lot less messy, but by no means is the process mess free. The little clamps and the Tie dye studio makes it even more interesting for the kids and provides a less messy work station too. The two clamps on each end stretches the fabric out and the holes in the top gives you a place to squirt the dye through. I find myself looking around my house to see what I can dye next. This was an instant hit making tie-dye shirts for both of my kids. It was very easy to use and buying a couple of white T-shirts did the trick. My kids love wearing their new tie-dye T-shirts thanks to the Cra-Z-Art tie dye set. I recommend using plain white Tees for the best outcome!
