TP Toys Hedgerow Wooden Playhouse

My kids are feathered so I bought this to make a chicken coop. The wood was beautiful and almost wanted to just stain it, but I had already purchased my paint. The preparing it for outdoors is time consuming but it gives you a chance to bring your artistic side to life! I wasn't sure if it had the hardware included bc it only stated predrilled holes but it did!\nI removed the plexiglass ( it slides out easy) by simply taking off the bottom trim of the window and door and replaced with chicken wire. \nI still have plans to put a nesting box on the side and a access door off the back for a fenced in area. \nMy babies seem happy with their new cozy cuteness and so am I .

This is an adorable play house. I loved the size, the ease of putting it together and the fact that my girls could paint it to reflect their personalities. (And that they can finally paint something real!) The issue we found was that it comes in a flat box in bare light-colored wood pieces, i.e. not treated wood. You are supposed to treat it or stain it before you assemble it since this is an outdoor toy and out in the elements this type of wood doesn't look like it would stand a chance. That process is incredibly time consuming and very frustrating to my kids who don't understand why we have to wait to paint/stain/treat the house before playing in it. We have a wooden swing-set for our backyard that came as brown treated wood pieces so I am not sure why this one comes untreated. Regarding the size and quality of the play house, it is a nice large size (we can easily fit our girls and some friends) and good sturdy quality but I would never purchase something that requires this much work before play can begin. I think you can get easier/better ones for the same price.
