Historical Collections of Virginia: With an Added Index of Names

The major portion of this monumental work is devoted to sketches of the various Virginia counties, with considerable material on the early settlements. Biographical sketches of prominent men are interspersed with the historical materials, and the whole is substantially enhanced by the inclusion of a descriptive history of the District of Columbia. About 2,000 names, many with multiple references, are contained in the specially prepared Index.
