The seal is just a tad too tight so the lid doesn't go down completely and like maybe a 1 inch area. I'm sure after time and use it'll be fine. The canisters really are beautiful very nice quality %26 I'm happy with them. A suggestion is that they might be bigger so that the largest would hold a bag of flour, the medium, a bag of sugar and the smallest, maybe coffee or teabags.
