[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ----- SUMMARY ----- Verdict: When I think of the Hunter brand, I think of ceiling fans. Only recently did I realize that they offer a variety of light fixtures. I wish I'd known sooner because the Hunter Gablecrest really impressed me. Now I want to replace a few other lights in my home with similarly styled Hunter light fixtures. When I unboxed the Hunter Gablecrest, I immediately noticed how well-designed and high-quality it was. I was excited to install it and thankfully the installation process was simple. If you like the style of the Hunter Gablecrest, I highly recommend you give it a try in your home. Pros: - Easy assembly and installation - Thorough instructions - Able to install as a pendant or flush mount light - High-quality and well-designed - Looks great in a variety of spaces Cons: - None ----- DETAILS ----- Assembly/Installation: Whether you choose to install the Hunter Gablecrest as a pendant or a flush mount light, assembly and installation are pretty simple. I appreciated the thorough instructions that explained how to assemble the light for either installation option. I chose to do the flush mount installation which basically involved removing the preinstalled swivel post from the canopy, reattaching the canopy with the washer and hex nut (included in the box), and trimming the wires to the desired length. The wires are very long, so you have plenty to work with. Tools you'll need include a screwdriver, pliers, wire strippers, and a ladder/stool. Installing the light as a pendant requires a few extra steps like adding rods to obtain the desired length. In addition to a 6-inch rod, there are four 12-inch rods included that allow you to obtain a maximum height of 69.5 inches. The only necessary item not included is a lightbulb. Design: When you first open the box, it's apparent that the Hunter Gablecrest is a well-designed, high-quality light. It's quite heavy for its size, indicative of the quality materials. It looks and feels high quality as well. As it says in the product description, I'd say the look is ideal for French country or farmhouse style spaces, but it's such a great-looking light that it could go well in a wide variety of spaces. I have the “Painted Concrete - Rustic White” model. The outer, circular shape has a distressed finish, and the inside (as well as the canopy/mount and the poles) are a flat gray color. The light output is great, but that's highly dependent on what type of bulb you use. It supports a maximum 60-watt light bulb or equivalent LED bulb. As I mentioned, there isn't one included, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. I'm really happy with the way it looks.
