Pants run small

There is no way these pants are a 2x. I bought a bigger size for my mom because of her having to wear diapers at her age. I was thinking that they would be loose enough for her to easily pull them down. WRONG, these pants are as tight as the 1x she has. I cannot return them because I washed them, in cold water, before she wore them. The shirt size is a 2x and I like that it is a pullover with no buttons.
