Adesso® Presley Torchiere, 72"H, Clear Shade/Polished Nickel Base

I really want to give this lamp 5 stars because the design is beautiful, the body is sleek and not cheap looking, and it assembles solidly. I was crowing to my husband what a great online shopper I am as I put it together, and then triumphantly turned it on after putting in a standard bulb. Eek. The light was nice and bright, but.....so harsh? Like, too white?? At first I thought it was the bulb, so much to my husband's irritation (he was trying to watch Peaky Blinders), I ended up swapping all the various bulbs in the house into this lamp to see if ANY bulb of various wattages would soften the harshness of this light. None of it helped. Ultimately we concluded that the problem was that inner plastic lampshade (the frosted one) was simply too thin, not diffusing enough of the light. I didn't know what to do about that and was heartbroken! It was perfect otherwise, with a small footprint and sleek look and reasonable price point .
