Beautiful Rug-- Perhaps a Little More Muted

I bought this rug several weeks ago to replace an animal print rug in my bedroom. This rug is superior in quality and does not have the type of backing that produces dust when it ages as my other rug did. I did want a rug that would "ground" my very bright room, which has bright pink walls and many brightly colored paintings throughout. The previous rug, with its black and brown, did that. This rug, which is muted in coloration, does ground it to some degree, but the blacks in the design are not dark enough to do the job completely. So, the effect is to create a muted mid-range rather than an offset, which is what I wanted. Ultimately, it mattered to me that the photo of the rug in front of the white furniture appears to have more vibrant contrast than mine has in my own room. That said, I am keeping it as it is a beautiful rug. I plan to order another design and put this in another room.
